SKELETON OF FLATHEAD INDIAN UNEARTHED IN WALLA WALLA TODAY
WALLA WALLA, Sept. 27. – (AP) – A skeleton, believed to be that of a Flathead Indian, was unearthed here today in excavating for a dwelling. Emory Funk, deputy coroner, estimated from the bones that the man was at least six feet, six inches tall. Huge jaw bones, with all the teeth intact, were found. The skull was in good condition, Funk said, and showed a definite flat spot characteristic of the tribe. While Walla Walla is a long way from the Flathead reservation, it was reputed to have been on the established Indian trail to Columbia River fishing spots.
