SKELETON GIANTS.
A Couple Found Side by Side, But the Woman’s Jaw Gave Way First.
N.Y., July 23. – In grading for an electric railroad to connect Lakewood and Jamestown today, laborers plowed up the bones of a man and woman of remarkable size. Local inhabitants claim that they are the remains of prehistoric humans. Whatever the real facts may be, the discovery has caused much excitement and speculation in the area.
A theory has emerged that the skeletons are those of giants. One newspaper correspondent brought home the femur and skull of the man and will have them on exhibition in Chautauqua tonight. The current belief is that they were white settlers who fell in the French and Indian Wars.
A curious and suggestive thing about the find is that the lower jaw of the man was intact, while that of the woman was entirely gone, showing that dental problems were much the same in prehistoric times as they are now. Chatauqua, N. Y., July 23.

CHAUTAUQUA, July 23. In grading for an electric railroad to Lakewood and Jamestown today, laborers uncovered, near Lakewood, the bones of a man and woman of remarkable size. Local historians claim that they are the remains of a prehistoric race. Whatever the facts may be, the find has caused much excitement in this and everybody has a theory for the giants. One man here brought home the femur and skull of the jawless man, and has them on exhibition tonight. The current belief is that they were white settlers who fell in the French and Indian War.
