Cumberland County – Seven Feet High

AN INDIAN MOUND

Skeletons of People Seven Feet High Are Found.

(Special to The Times Dispatch.)

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., Sept. 21. – Dr. J.W. McNeill, of Ardross, seven miles south of this city, yesterday dug into a grass-covered, tree-grown ground, which the tradition of a century has allotted an old Indian burying-ground. Sure enough, he unearthed several skeletons, some in a state of fair preservation. Dr. McNeill says that, from the size and structural formation of the bones, they must have belonged to people at least seven feet in height.
