Clark County – Large Human Bones
A discovery of historical interest was made in Austin Buttery’s farm in the town of Levis Clark County, the other day by that gentleman’s son Alfred, while cultivating corn. The cultivator turned up a large number of bones and a silver medal. The medal is the shape of a silver dollar and about five times as large,. One side bears in relief the likeness of John Quincy Adams, with the inscription “John Quincy Adams, President of the United States, 1825.” And the reverse bears a pretty design of the President, in lace cuffs etc., shaking hands with a bare armed Indian chief, and in the space between the clasped hands are a tomahawk and a pipe – symbolic o war and peace – crossed, the whole design indicating friendship in peace and war.
